The popular collectibles Topps cards included in its 2007 edition the blackjack champion Michael Aponte, something really new, because in these cards usually appear the most successful American athletes. But for its 2007 edition, the people of Topps has decided to broaden its spectrum and include celebrities from other disciplines, still looking to make their cards more popular collectibles.
So for the first time a blackjack player appeared in a Topps edition of Allen & Ginter. Aponte is among the 20 world champions from various specialties. Also are listed 300 celebrities from baseball and 25 historical personalities.
Consulted about this novelty, Aponte expressed that “considering the history of the prestigious series of Allen & Ginter, I am incredibly honored and fortunate to be a part of this set.” On the other hand added: “I never knew that a blackjack player would appear in a card collection in the company of professional athletes and world champions.”
For those people who are entering the world of blackjack, or perhaps have begun to make some rapprochement with the game through the online blackjack, it is worth noting that Aponte was winner of the first World Series of Blackjack in 2004 and third in the blackjack legends tour which took place in 2006.
